Was sworn in on Wednesday. Shipping date is currently set at 20100525 for Great Lakes, MI. They pretty much gave me a choice between Sept 3rd, or May 25th, which was nice of them. 8 days, or 9 months, what? At least I have a job now, though! IT for the Navy doesn't sound like a bad gig, although I'd prefer NF (Nuclear Field), at the very least just because in the civilian sector, an NF can make a 6 digit salary without breaking a sweat. We'll see what goes on when I get the option of transferring.

Still trying to get into the Navy. A few delays have kept me from processing, though. My recruiter had been on leave for class until August 7th, which set me back a few weeks. The newest problem? Apparently during the many, many moves I've made since I've graduated high school, I've lost my diploma, and to get a transcript, I'll need to get ahold of FCHS. The only issue with that is, they're on shortened summer hours, and nobody at the school likes picking up the phone. The Navy recruiters office that's closest (Alexandria) has sent a recruiter to pick it up in person, so hopefully this will be resolved soon. Hoping to see results and get sworn in on Monday/Tuesday, instead of today/tomorrow. If there's anything that would warrant a post in something, anything, it would be this. I've decided to join the Navy. Still filling out my forms for the background check, but right now I'm due to visit the MEPS office out in Richmond starting the evening of the 16th, and I'll be getting back the next day at about 2pm. If I test anywhere close to what I did on the practice one in the recruiter's office, then I'd be eligible for pretty much any position available, including the nuclear program. I don't care at this point whether or not Obama may or may not be a socialist. If he can do away with FAFSA, and have Pell Grant and Subsidized Stafford Loan eligibility based entirely on your tax forms, he's got my support. FAFSA was always made of fail. Despite what you may have read in an email your uncle's best friend's brother had sent you, it's impossible for Obama to be both a Muslim and a practicing Christian. Either pick one or the other, people. If you're going to negatively campaign, at least make some sense! Either get offended at what the Rev. Jeremiah Wright says, or decide that based on his name, Barack Hussein Obama must be one of them gud-fer-nuthin' muslem terrerists. NOT BOTH. http://www.newsweek.com/id/162789
I loves me some nice weather. Summer can't come soon enough. This is a post. I may be broke, but at least I have interviews this week, and an internet connection. The semester is finally ending, and to top it off, I'm moving! And it's my last day at this here Seven Corners Starbucks, as well. New journal. |
